Have you ever held public office, whether appointive or elective?
I have not.
What do you think are the top three issues for Culver City voters in this election, and how do you plan to address them?
Lack of access to affordable housing: To address this I will reform legislation to ensure that affordable housing is a reality by stopping developers from being able to continuously pay ineffectively low fines to perpetually avoid actually providing affordable housing.
Unhoused crisis: To solve this I will help both our community and the unhoused by linking those without homes to available resources through the creation of an advocacy and liaison group.
Insufficient diversity of industry and local job opportunities: To improve this I will create new jobs, solidify the independence of our city and its residents, and advance our sense of community, by attracting new industry and creating a situation that enables small businesses to launch and thrive, primarily through tax incentives.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you’d succeed on the council?
As manager of an animal rehabilitation hospital, I advocate for those without voices and have grown the success of a benevolent business through thoughtful decision making, including successful fiscal decisions. Starting as the most entry-level position at my organization and rising to the highest managerial position, I have made consistent growth a reality through my ability to dynamically navigate challenges, make the most of situations and available resources, and exemplify servant leadership by advocating for my peers. I will use all of my abilities and experience to the benefit of Culver City and its residents.
What’s the best advice anyone gave you?
If you want things to be different, you have to do things differently.
Who is someone that inspires you and why?
My mother, who has always served as a beacon of true maternal love, putting the greater needs of those for whom she is responsible first. She has always managed to find a way to move forward through any circumstance, fiercely standing by her beliefs. She has demonstrated that where there is a will, there is a way.
