JOLIET — One of the hot spots for criminal activity around Joliet’s west side is often at the Speedway gas station along West Jefferson Street. Joliet Patch has written about several violent crimes taking place here over the past year, including shootings and stabbings. On Friday evening, Joliet police arrested 32-year-old Christopher Page in connection with a knife incident.

Page, who came to Joliet from North Lake, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and criminal damage to property.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events unfolded just a couple of minutes before 6 p.m. on Friday:

The officers responded to the Speedway gas station at 1621 West Jefferson Street for a disturbance.
Officers learned that Page had threatened a store customer with a knife. It is believed that Page approached a man standing next to his vehicle and Page began insulting the victim.

Page then produced a knife and pointed it at the victim. At this time, the victim drove away in his vehicle. While the victim pulled away, Page punctured the victim’s trunk with the knife.
Officers located Page behind the building and placed him into custody without incident. Page was let go after being processed at the police station. He was given his notice to appear in court as per the SAFE-T-Act.
