Japan’s campaign in the FIFA World Cup came to an end after losing 3-1 in penalties vs Croatia in the Round of 16. This happened after the 2 sides were locked 1-1 after extra time. Japan had taken the lead in the 1st half only to be cancelled out by Croatia in the 2nd.

But it was the Japanese fans that won hearts by bowing out in style. Once again they were scene collecting rubbish from the stands and making sure they did not leave a mess in the stadium.

It was not the first time as they had done it during the 1st round regardless of the results. They did the same back in 2018.

Even the players earned a reputation for leaving their locker rooms clean.

Japan were ousted at the same stage after squandering a 2-0 lead vs Belgium in 2018. Belgium would finish 3rd.

Croatia now face Brazil in the quarters. In 2018 they were finalists while Brazil made it to the quarters.
