NORTHBROOK, IL — Last year, Northbrook native Nick Hardy won his first event on the PGA Tour at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The 28-year-old, who graduated from Glenbrook North in 2014, owes some of his success to playing golf locally.

Through the Northbrook Park District, Hardy is set to hold a clinic for young golfers on Sunday at Anetsberger Golf Course.

“I grew up playing at Anetsberger. My dad first took me there when I was 3 or 4,” Hardy, who holds the course record at Anetsberger, told the NPD. “I have so many good memories of playing with my dad, playing with my buddies or my next-door neighbors. Every summer, I’d ride my bike there, with my bag and my clubs on my back.”

Since his victory last April, Hardy has continued to compete on the PGA Tour, most recently finishing 38th last month at the Wyndham Classic. Since joining the tour in 2022, he has earned over $4 million, according to the PGA.

Hardy grew up about a mile from Anetsberger, where he honed his skills and resolved to become a professional player. While he has held golf clinics across the country, this will be Hardy’s first in Northbrook.

“This is a great way for me to give my time to youth golf in Illinois, and it’s going to be really special that it’s at a place where I grew up playing,” Hardy said. “It’s always great to come back and see familiar faces.”

Following high school, Hardy won the Big 10 Conference Championship individually in 2015 and 2018 while at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also won the Illinois State Amateur Championship in record-breaking fashion in 2016. He has qualified five times for the U.S. Open, with his best finish (tied for 14th) in 2022.

NPD officials said attendees to Sunday’s clinic will have a chance to meet Hardy’s parents, Kim and John Hardy, who are joining him for a golf clinic for the first time. Young golfers who take part in programs from the nonprofit First Tee – Greater Chicago, for which Hardy serves as an ambassador, also will be in attendance.
