WEST BABYLON, NY — Firefighters extinguished a fire that engulfed a West Babylon home on Monday, the West Babylon Fire Department told Patch.

West Babylon firefighters responded to a house fire on Hope Street around 8 a.m., officials said.
First Assistant Chief William Allen was the first on scene and arrived to find the structure “heavily involved with fire,” officials said.

Engine 1-9-6 and Rescue 1-9-15 arrived and searched the home and began suppression of the fire, officials said.
Mutual aid was provided by the Babylon Fire Department, Lindenhurst Fire Department, North Lindenhurst Volunteer Fire Department, and North Babylon Volunteer Fire Company.

Suffolk County police said its arson squad is investigating the fire and no one was seriously injured.
