LOS ANGELES, CA — Caltrans discovered a suspicious item at the De Soto Avenue on-ramp to the eastbound Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in the Porter Ranch area, prompting the California Highway Patrol to shut down the on-ramps Thursday afternoon.
Both the CHP and the Los Angeles Police Department are on the scene investigating as of 12:45 p.m., CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told Patch.

“Both the east and westbound on-ramps will blocked until further notice,” said Kravig.

The closure does not extend to the freeway lanes, but it is slowing traffic in the area and commuters are advised to expect delays.
It was not immediately clear what the suspicious item was.
