PLEASANTON, CA — The Pleasanton City Council will consider approving a 110-unit senior living community on a 46-acre plot of land on the east side of Foothill Road, approximately a quarter mile south of Foothill High School.

The proposal features 92 single-family detached homes, 18 affordable senior courtyard detached and duet homes, a clubhouse, one existing single-family home, and annexation of the property into the city of Pleasanton. The proposal also includes site improvements, including the extension of the Marilyn Murphy Kane Trail to connect to the southeast corner of the project site, and widening Foothill Road to include bicycle lanes.

The proposal was approved 4-0 on June 24 by the Pleasanton Planning Commission, despite concerns about increased traffic, and fire and flooding risks. Staff said that they are planning significant drainage improvements on both Foothill Road and the project site, and considering a new traffic light on Foothill Road.
