LONG BEACH, CA — A 15-year-old girl died in the hospital after she was a passenger in a car involved in a high-speed chase with a stolen vehicle that ended in a crash in Long Beach, police announced Tuesday.
The Long Beach Police Department responded to the area of 7th Street and Orange Avenue to assist with a traffic collision that happened at the end of a vehicle pursuit involving Orange Police Department.
According to authorities, Orange PD was pursuing a suspect driving a stolen vehicle with a 15-year-old girl inside on March 8 at about 1:38 a.m. During the pursuit, the vehicle crashed into another car in the intersection and veered out of control, police said.

“The stolen vehicle then collided with five additional parked vehicles before becoming disabled in the roadway. The driver of the stolen vehicle fled the scene on foot,” LBPD said in a statement.
The girl was taken to the hospital in critical condition with many life-threatening injuries, police said. On Monday, LBPS was informed that the girl succumbed to her injuries and died on March 13.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was treated at the scene with minor injuries, police said.
Orange PD is investigating the stolen vehicle and subsequent pursuit, LBPD said. No information about the suspect’s identity was available.
