CHATSWORTH, CA — Firefighters stopped a brush fire burning in the early morning hours in the hills above Chatsworth Tuesday.

The blaze broke out just before midnight and burned about a half acre of brush in the Santa Susana Mountains in the area of 11400 Poema Place, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.
Firefighters from both the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the Ventura County Fire Department assisted, and the fire was extinguished in less than 40 minutes.

The fire did not threaten any structures, and the cause was under investigation.
The blaze was one of several small brush fires in the San Fernando Valley area over recent days. Amid the extreme heat, firefighters have been mounting aggressive efforts to contain the fires before they rage out of control.
