Kane Williamson’s reputation of being the nice guy of cricket took a hard hit when netizens went after him for claiming a catch when replays indicated that the ball had touched the ground.
What happened was that Jos Buttler tried to clear cover and Williamson dived to brilliantly grab the ball. To the naked eye, it looked clean and Williamson claimed it.
Buttler was already headed back when replays showed the ball had made contact with the turf. Williamson was quick to apologise but fans were not pleased that he had claimed it to begin with.
It pretty much became a hot topic of discussion. Take a look:

Kane Williamson is a cheater, Karma will take care of him will be said by no one because he has a cute smile and doesn’t run the non striker out like Ashwin

And that’s why nobody should ever take the fielder’s word re: catches. They simply don’t know sometimes. Kane Williamson is an honest bloke and even he thought he’d caught that. Imagine giving some others (who shall remain nameless) the power to claim catches #T20WorldCup

My grandson bats like Umesh Yadav but he idolizes Kane Williamson for his honesty. Today his favorite cricketer has let him down. Cricket won’t be the same for him.

England eventually won the game by 20 runs to stay in the hunt for a semifinal berth of the T20 World Cup. New Zealand are also well within range of making it to the final 4.
