TF1 journalist Saber Desfarges is reporting that Hakim Ziyech’s (29) loan move from Chelsea to Paris Saint-Germain is off after French football’s governing body, the LFP, didn’t approve the deal.

L’Équipe earlier reported that the LFP were set to meet this morning to consider the approval of Ziyech’s loan. That meeting took place at 10:30 CET after the documents pertinent to Ziyech’s move to Chelsea arrived after the passing of the deadline on Tuesday night. According to L’Équipe, Chelsea sent the wrong document on numerous occasions, meaning that the deal could not be completed in time.

The Moroccan international was set to join Les Parisiens on loan until the end of the season in a deal that didn’t include an option to make the deal permanent. Ziyech had already passed his PSG medical earlier in the day, and was waiting on an agreement between the clubs to be formalised.

That agreement did come, but too late. The transfer is now definitively off, according to Desfarges, after the ruling from the LFP legal committee. Ziyech will now return to Chelsea.
